Students from the University of Leicester, De Montfort University and Leicester College took part in a Pre-TEDxLeicester Student Workshop at Queens Building, De Montfort University on Wednesday March 25th from 12 noo-6.30pm. After a session of group-building and exercises designed to get the creative juices flowing, students identified ideas for the future of Leicester, discussed and developed them. Four themes emerged with a strong common focus on integration and sustainability. The four themes were developed into presentations made to a panel of judges chaired by Jo Tallack, General Manager of Highcross, and including Rick Moore, local entrepreneur and former Chair of Magistrates, and Karen Chouhan, Organiser for the WEA in Leicester. The judges were impressed by the creativity, passion and the technological skills shown in the presentations. The winners - Maryam Shojaei-Baghini, Shreya Bhattacharya, Harleen Hundal, and Marie Julien - will reprise their presentation at TEDx Leicester on April 27th while other groups have been invited to show theirs on Curve mezzanine during the lunch interval.
